When I request an export, two thumbnail images of the diagram appear and are available for selection. However they appear to be identical and, as far as I can tell, result in the same export file ((image or PDF). What’s the actual difference?

Hi, if you select left image you will export cropped version of your diagram, if you select the right one - full size version. If your diagram occupies the entire area
of the document, then these options will be identical. This is probably your case. Try making document size bigger and you should see the difference.
